saff 4x4 std turbo
More boost won't help the lag, can't really answer the cam question but I don't think it's needed for what you have as you arn't flowing the air to warrent it, it's a common inlet cam choice whilst keeping the standard exhaust cam, so standard inlet may help?

Taking the BD14 out will help, but needs the correct chip/map for the cam used.
It really shouldn't be laggy though, should be well on the boost by 3000rpm.
A mapping session can transform the car literally, the off boost esp is totally transformed, mine start boosting by 1400/1500 rpm and full boost by 2500rpm, after it was mapped, and that wasn't the best bit, almost forgot what a petrol station looked like, well not quite but you know what I mean.
