Just refitted my saff 2wd gearbox yesterday. I filled it till it was running out the filler hole. But has only taken 2litres of fluid. Everywhere I looked says 2.5 litres. Do you have to add more after running the engine, or is 2 litres about right??

 

Was your box apart and emptied of oil ?, if it is running out of the filler hole then it's got enough, so must already have had some in, I filled mine about 3 weeks ago from having been completely stripped, and it took nearer 2.7 litres.

Its been out the car and down to the gear shop. Its had the bearings reshimmed but thats it. Definately running out the filler hole, so musnt have been completely empty.

 

as long as your checking with car on level ground or a ramp and the oil's coming out the bung hole then it's fine!
