Default 2.0 cams on a 1.8???

thinking of fitting 2.0 cams on a 1.8 with a remap afterwards... what kind of power gains will this make if any, and would there be anything else that would have to be changed to accept thee 2.0 cams?
cheers

Quite commonly done, but I don't think it'd make any positive difference, especially since your ECU won't know about it.
What people usually do is also use the throttle-body and MAF sensor from a 2 litre (plus the cams you already have), and an ECU from an RS1800 Fiesta. The theory is, since those are the changes made to the RS1800, 130 brake should be achievable on any 1.8 Zetec.
Personally, I cannot vouch for any performance improvement.

first of all what car is this on as if its a focus with the black top zetec engine the cams, throttle body and maf are identical so there will be zero gain. this mod only works on the silver top zetecs in fiestas and escorts. not sure if the maf sensor is needed though, don't think it is tbh.

sorry just seen what car you got.

best mod you can do to that escort is drop in a 2l silvertop from a mondeo. you'll need the modeo ecu of a specific code and swap over oil pickup, sump, flywheel and i think water pump and switch a pins round on the ecu plug. guaranteed 130 bhp and will have more torque than the 130bhp 1.8. pluss its a better base to start going for bigger power.

get yourself onto feoc-uk.com, loads of people on there who have done this conversion and swear by it. theres a guide on there too or a link to one.

edit to say: with a decent exhaust system coupled to a 4-1 or 4-2-1 it'll be 145-150bhp

cheers bud, looks like i'll be doing some research in that direction now, i've read up about the 2.0 cam job and apparently all it does is shift the power band up slightly and you end up loosing torque from your low/mid range which is the area im trying to improve...

2l mondy engine is the way forward then
