My ford focus 1.8 zetec started to feel sluggish last night then all of a sudden the speedometer dropped to zero from 40MPH and then went back to 40MPH. Could the speed sensor make the car feel sluggish? Or has anyone else had this problem?

 

Yes when the speed sensor fails it will cause a noticeable drop in performance, very common on the focus!
