Default Ford Focus MK1 ECU Remappable? (1.8 2000)

I've had soo many different answers to this question and not sure whats right and wrong!
Basically is the MK1 Focus ECU remappable? I've been told no, yes, only with a piggy back ECU, only with piggy back ECU set up on rolling road, only if it flashed?
PLEASE HELP SHED SOME LIGHT!

I would have thought so yes as with all ECU'S I can think of but not sure, it uses EEC management, but tbh you would get little if no gain at all on a standard car so can't think why you would want to do so?

I would have to say yes they are remappable , but finding someone that is able to do it may well be a different story ........ Ford will issue new software to replace the original and you use IDS or the older WDS to reprogramme , but the problem is you need the "in" code to unlock the ecu to enter the programme mode , and because this is so hard then most people will use a separate ECU that is so much quicker and more user friendly to alter each parameter on a lap top , so not trying to fog the question the answer I would give is Yes but No !!!!!!

Its not standard its got Piper Ultimate Road cams and vernier pulleys with the timing advanced, port and polished head, 4-1 decat manifold with full stainless, induction kit and upgraded HT leads.
So the best way to do it is get another ECU to add onto my standard one, to map that?
Thanks for the replys

It can be chipped, reflashed or piggy-backed. It's all down to what your tuner uses.
