Red face confusing cosworth

escort cosworth rally car here is the problem. a few days ago it started smoking heavily then cleared after a short blast. was ran again 2 days later and instantly knocked then cleared and came back again intermitantly with varying severity then afer running at tick over for a few minutes dropped a cylinder and wont pick it up again. the suspect cylinder has good spark but with lots of fuel on and all 4 have good compression.????

any help will be much appreciated as we have a rally coming up in a couple of weeks.

also should add it is mapped and running on sunoco racing fuel

Could be a stuck injector, were these cleaned prior to the mapping ?
Try tapping the injector whilst running.

no they havnt been changed and was only mapped when it was converted to run on the new fuel. will try tapping it when it is running, do the injectors fail in the open position as this would explain the flooding in the one cylinder. also could it need remapping with the change of the turbo and also has recently had a new head fitted. thanks for all the help.

Change of turbo ?, without a doubt it will at the very least need checking fuelling wise, they tend to get sticky and not fully close, or be sluggish in action when gummed up, this can happen esp after a extended period of no use.
Just get them cleaned, then map checked.
