My escort running 340bhp and it normally rns at about 1.5 bar, ive had the engine out replaced sump gasket,clutch,engine mounts and cambelt when i put it back in it started ok but when test driving it it would only boost up to 0.5 bar ,i checked my hoses and vacuum pipes but still the same,i checked my wastegate was closed and this was ok i then blanked off the vacuum pipe to my actuator and i got just over 1.7 bar does this mean my actuator is knackered ,also have another problem when i ran the car up after about 10 mins it started to make a wiiring noise coming from my rocker cover/cam pullies i thought it might be my camshaft bearings that were knackered, it then got worse and started to rattle like somebody had put a loose nut in my cam cover ,then it will stop and start intermitaly i still get that wiiring sound as well. I then took the cover off and took the cam shafts out but could not find anything amiss i then put it back together and it run sweet till i went out in it then it started again,seems to do it more when its ticking over my oil pressure is good cant seem to find the problem IT SOUNDS AWFULL..

 

Actuator sounds fine, this is shows by the fact the boost is able to raise WITH the hose disconnected so I would be looking toward the boost control, Amal/Lectron valve as appropiate.

As to the noise you don't have your cam belt to tight do you?
