Default Cosworth thermostat housing problem HELP!

Hello people,

I'm hoping someone can help me, or someone who has had a similar problem,

I've put my thermostat housing in for powder coating and after getting it back it has a pin prick hole in it from corrosion.

So therefore I have managed to source a brand new Genuine Ford item, however it's missing 2 pipe connections on it and I can't for the life of me think of what to do,

any ideas anyone??

thanks

I'm very surprised ford have supplied a stat housing without the pipes shown already in it, but maybe that is how they do it ?
With your old housing being scrap now due to the hole in it no doubt from media blasting you have nothing to lose by taking the pipes out of it and putting them in the new one, but need to use some decent sealant around them when fitting, like loctite 5900 or 5910.
I would first double check with either ford technical or the workshop foreman if it is correctly supplied in this state first.

Yes........bought my new Thermostat Housing from Burton.

This is the last batch that Cosworth had - apparently.

Anyway, I've ordered mine on the knowledge that I was going to modify.

So, I've welded a -8 on the main outlet and a -4 on the smaller.

I do have some pictures but no idea how to put them up on this Forum...........mainly because I'm an Old Fart

correct

and this is the response I had from them,

Hello Michael,

Thank you for your enquiry, we do not have these unions, you will have to remove them carefully from your old unit to reuse or have some fabricated, this is how they come into us.

Kind Regards

Ian Bailey

Burton Power

Marvellous!

Very shoddy imo, sure the oe pipes were just mild steel ?, in which case most may break removing them, if you get stuck, ie yours break I can always get you some made cheaply out of SS.

They are a piece of piss to make, if you have the kit, or access to, one remade in SS with the correct swaged end would be around Ł10-Ł15 at a guess, but would be nice proper 90 degree bend unlike the ford effort, and of course proper stainless steel, if interested pm me.

"it" can be made to exactly what you want, though I'm certain he does not have a small enough bit to swage the smaller pipe if you wanted one of them.
If interested take this pm or it will get deleted, it's not made by myself and nor do I have any financial interest in it, or any other one off stuff he makes.
