looking at getting a mk6 escort to do an engine conversion. i would ideally like an rs 2000 engine but would consider a 2.0 zetec. which conversion would be easier/cheaper? what parts would I need for each conversion? thanks

Rs2000 is more power better gearbox but is heavier.
For complete rs conversion u need engine, all anc, mounts exhaust manifold, ecu loom and fusebox.
If u want to do total rs setup then u need rs gearbox,subframe, driveshafts, hubs and ideally suspension (diff spring rates)
U can run on ib5 gearbox just need to use a zetec flywheel on rs engine, will bolt straight on.
For zetec 2l u need to swap over some 1.8 parts (oil pump, sump, water pump etc) so easiest is the rs conversion.

Easier surely to get a written off mk6 zetec, park the two side by side and swap over everything.
mk6 escorts seem to get scrapped more than any other ford (even older ones) so you wont have trouble finding one!
