ofab map sensor superssor
can anyone tell me if you need the superssor on a ofab loom gettin mixed feedback some ppl say you gotta have one others say you dont an if i dont how would you get round it plz help
The way I look at it is that Ford would not fit one if it was not needed as we all know they would not spend money needlessly , but then there is a lot of cars out there running without one that seem to run without an issue , the way I have done it so you can add it in later if you find one is get a faulty speed sensor and cut the wiring from it to the plug , you can then join the required wires and leave the main loom un-mollested , or you could just cut and join wires before suppressor plug if you canot find the 3 pin plug required
Sorry a bit slow to reply , forgot this was on going , I assume you have the 3 way plug up near the ecu plug that the suppressor goes into , if so there are 3 wires in it , a yellow one that comes from the MAP sensor and a brown/yellow that goes to pin 27 on the ecu , these need to be connected together .
I find it best if you make yourself a "jump lead" up , I make mine from a speedo sensor wire as it has the yellow wire in the correct position , then if you want you can just solder the green and yellow wire together and tape up in a termination bundle and tuck it away , what I do is make a small loom up using the yellow wire and plug , I remove the red and green wire , fit a Brown/yellow wire in place of the green , use a blanking grommet in the now spare hole , then solder the wires together and then heat shrink them , have an example pic if required as I did one today in case i decide to do a guide in the future .
