Default Bike carb queries...

Got a few questions about running bike carbs on a 1.7 puma engine, basicall I've bought this manifold (suited for jenveys or carbs)...

Does anyone know what could e a direct fit for these?

Stand alone management;

What's the best option for this? Omex 200? Megajolt? Is it just ignition I need? What goes on with the MAF and injection side of things? Do they give a default reading? Does the MAF sensor take a reading from another temp sensor(eg coolant temp)

The carbs/throttle bodies;

Heard people say it's easier to use bike throttle bodies so you can use original injectors? I think that's a load of pony but if someone can elaborate on that? I was under the understanding that you had to modify the fuel lines to the carbs? Which is the best bike carbs to go for? Heard zx6r carbs, webbers or doloretos ...

Air intake etc;

What happens with the MAF sensor etc? Is the ICV left alone or does any of this effect it?

Throttle cable;

Has anyone made there own to fit the bike carbs (depending on which you have?) how simple was this?

And last of all, is this fairly straight forward once all the bits are gathered? I'm a qualified mechanic and know what I'm doing, just want to get as much info as possible before i go blowing cash...

How much would it cost DIY in the back garden to do it yourself and what kind of gains would you see? Who's best for mapping?

Any help much appreciated and pictures appreciated aswell!

I picked the manifold up dirt cheap so thought it might be worth a crack! If it's more trouble than it's worth then I'll sell it on...

Ive done it on a zetec before in a fiesta si. Not hard at all really. Ive used zx9r carbs as there 44mm dia, had a manifold made by someone on xrtwo.com and there about Ł120, management ive had both omex 200 and megajolt, omex is better. All in can be done for about Ł400 inc manifold made, carbs and ingnition ecu and a bike pump.

Doing it on a puma will be slightly more in depth as you have to find away to bypass the pats as im pretty sure its part of the ecu on these cars so you wont be needing it or any of the other injection bits and loom.

Bike bodies can be run on the standard ecu and injection if you build a airbox you can even use your maf. You refering to using your injectors, i guess you have been reading where people have used a st170 manifold so they block the bike injector ports off and run the st170 injectors and rail etc

this is mine all done by me and maps downloaded from the net etc

Good read there, suppose theres a lot of fabrication required to manage to use your MAF sensor and injectors etc, would take some time! I've purchased the manifold without looking much into it haha! Might see if someone can fabricate me something up...

Another thing with carbs I'm assuming I'd have the blank the VCT off because the carbs wouldn't know about the advance.

Yeah you might be better to go with throttle bodies to keep the good aspects of the engine
