Default Coolant flush

I've got rust in the coolant on my Focus so I need to flush out the rust. I've done 5 flushes now and I still have rust coming through.

Any recommendations for what I can use? The only stuff I can find at the moment is from the states.

Take the radiator out and run a hose through until it runs clear to get the worst out. Sounds like it has been running without anti freeze for a long time. Just keep going with coolant flushes it will get better!

I've done that but as the thermostat isn't open and I think the rust is coming from the block it doesn't penetrate the whole system so as soon as you fill it up and drive about for a bit it comes back.

Take the thermostat out and flush water straight through the block until it's coming out the bottom hose?

I'll try that but would be easier to get some coolant flush and run that through for a couple of days.

Yes that would be easier but would take forever. Remove thermostat and undo bottom hose then run a hose through expansion tank until it's running clear. Put the heater to hot too so it cleans through the heater matrix.

Water + Iron = RUST, you will never stop it, usually it isn't so much rust as a rusty looking water, which will do no harm.
If you are worried about getting ALL the dregs of rust colouring and everything else out of there, run some WYNNS cooling system flush through there, but NOT for the 10 mins as stated on the bottle, use this in normal driving for 200 miles, this is what I do, then do a mega flush with hosepipe.
The flush will form as a congealed goo in the expansion tank, so this will need taking off to clean out thoroughly, dislodge the soft goo with a old stick etc, failing that boil it with boiling water.
This what I do and have been for well over 10 years.

Go to your local hgv garage and get some of the trp coolant flush most should have it nothing can touch that stuff. Will only need to be driven hot for an hour or so and job done!
