Default flashing hazard warning

I need help with my ford KA 57 plate.
About 5 seconds after turning the engine off and opening my car door the hazard warning lights flash intermittently and a beeping noise comes from inside the car. When i shut the door the beeping and flashing stops.
There is no explanation of this in the handbook or any warning signs on the dashboard when the engine is running.
Any ideas?

It's bound to be either alarm related, or it sounds as though it could be in some kind of diagnostic mode, has it been to a ford garage recently ?
There are many features that are not in the handbook as they are4 only used by the dealers, so would be worth asking a ford dealer as well.

thanks for the help!
I've not yet taken it to the garage but will do.
A friend suggested i could have gotten water on the electrics and fried the connections so they now interlink. No warning signs while the car is running though. hmm.
