is this right???
well i know its not the done thing its just i dont know what has been tampered with!!!
when i first got it it was totally standard or so i was told
so i put a boost guage on it and found it was running nearly 1.5 bar of boost!!!
i was gonna wind it down but i thought its been like this for years and hasnt popped the engine yet so leave it lol
so since then i have fitted a 3 inch scorpion exhaust and rs500 intercooler and i drove it yesterday and its hitting nearly 2 bar now!!!
on closer inspection i think the cap has been flicked off the fpr but i dont know what else has been done...on the first drive when purchased it definitley didnt feel like 200 brake or so
just with a bootful in second in the dry it is all over the shop (tail happy i mean)!!!
what should i do??
its a 2wd saff by the way
cheers

What map-sensor does it have? Standard chip or something else?
I would get it checked/remapped by somebody who knows what he's doing.

No in road trim it's a restricted engine so to speak as such it only runs 0.8 BAR (10 PSI) maximum, stage 1 raises this to around 15PSI and everything else stays standard, beyond this you need to change the MAP sensor to a 3 BAR item because you are now running more than the standard 2 BAR item can see and of course a software calibration to suit (Remap) Remember the atmospheric pressure is 1 BAR and so in reality the standard item can only see a BAR boost as you are now running more boost you need to provide fuel for it, as such the injectors need uprating to higher flow rate items (Typically Bosch green injectors or as of late the Siemens 55LB equivilants.
Btw if the injectors are standard they will be yellow.
The exception to the the above is something knows as a "Gunship" conversion, other companys do the same thing as well, this basically allows you to run near stage 3 power on an otherwise standard car by running a higher boost pressure.
It's not just a case of bolting on hardware, I would strongly advise you to drive it GENTLY to a tuner ASAP otherwise you could end up damaging/melting the engine!
One things a given, that is it isn't the standard software! If it was then fuel injection is cut at 7000RPM or 13PSI boost (Hard cut), even remapped software should still have a boost cut which you don't seem to have!
Do you know the chip thats fitted?
Also something you can easily check is to make sure one of the hoses either from the compressor housing, or to the actuator have not come off/split, as this would run infinate boost!

no do niot have a clue what chip etc its running>>>i guess it must have one though
yh its on standard yellows
unsure of map sensor as i dont know how you could tell...part number anybody????
it must have been like this for a while as bloke before me had it like this and as far as he was aware it was standard...or so he said
it does smell very rich???
could this be a sign somet else has been done
i jujst thought possibly someone may have titted about with it and wound the fuel pressure up to cope with the extra boost??
No???
cheers

The only sure way of telling what is what is get it on the rollers where you can see the fuelling under load, someone could well of just whacked the(fuel) rail pressure up via the FPR.
The std 2 bar map sensor will read beyond 2 bar despite it's name, same as the 3 bar will read beyond 3 bar, as each have a over boost reading facility.
The std 2 bar is marked APS 02/03, the 3 bar is marked SPA 05/01.
You may have been very lucky so far, but best get it checked, at the very least a fuelling check, open the ecu and see what the chip has written on it as well.

A standard 2-bar map sensor will go a little beyond 2 bar absolute, Yes. But no more than .15 of a bar, which gives you a maximum of 1.15 bar overboost. 2 bar overboost is just way to much for a standard map-sensor.

Just for your information, the APS 02/03 has a overpressure of 200%, WAY more than 0.15bar, the 05/01 reads up to 450kPa, the problem is the accuracy is not there above the official range, which is in the case of the 2 bar up to 2.16BAR/216kPa, and the 3 bar is 3.08BAR/306kPa.
The 2 bar map sensor reads 22.61mv for everykPa, the 3 bar reads 15.46mv for every kPa.

Well, I was off by exactly 0.01 bar, WOW.
Nice drawings of the range of a map sensor: http://www.forzavx.com/gecu/hw/APS02-03_APS05-01.pdf
And you can forget about 450kpa on the 05/01. 308kpa absolute is the maximum.
