Oil Pressure Switch - What Thread?
Hey folks
I'm trying to fit an oil pressure gauge to my 1999 Focus TDDi. Originally I was going to use the oil pressure switch point, installing a T-piece, and putting my sender there, but on researching what thread it was I got conflicting advice - some places saying M14, others saying 1/4NPT.
So, I bought myself an oil filter sandwich plate off ebay. Which posed it's own problem, it's 80mm in diameter, my oil filter is 90mm - just too big for the plate! (So much for "universal" fitment, seems to only take tiny oil filters!)
So I'm back to installing a T-piece where the oil switch currently is. As far as I know, it is the exact same oil switch as used on a blacktop Zetec, only it's screwed into the head on my diesel rather than down the back of the block.
So what thread is it?!
Cheers

Is it a taper thread , most are , as far as I know there is no metric taper thread , try here http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/np...ads-d_750.html
and see if the thread count is correct , did have a site that had 1:1 drawings on it for comparison but seem to have lost link ...... will repost if I find it

Thanks for the info guys.
Yeah it's a tapered thread, and given the info you've given me then it must be 1/4NPT. Which is what a lot of websites were saying - that modern Fords use 1/4NPT.
And the sump plug must be M14Fine then, as it's definitely not "regular" M14...
