Default mondeo cutting out

After Many posts and treads I finely really taught my tdci Mondeo was sorted
I Got the injectors reconditioned by a Delphi specialist,Drained the diesel tank and changed the fuel filter, and recoded them. when my mechanic finely got it started (after much boloxing) it ran like a dream for about 20 miles, then in traffic today it
went dead i was travelling around 30 or 40 mph when it just died and would not start.
I got a tow home and i tried the key again and hey presto started first tip i got another 2 miles and died again waited a few minutes and it started again.
I just changed the camshaft position sensor a few minutes ago and no difference, even when ticking over it runs fine for a few minutes then dies.
Has anyone got any ideas please im seriously running out of patience with this
oh yea when it conks the glow plug light comes on flashing
Please help it was not doing anything like this before the injector fucked up it just went into limp

Hi, I have a similar problem.

I have just bought a Ford Mondeo TDCi 52 plate (2003) 130bhp. It was an ex-taxi so I got it for just £900. At the time of sale I was made aware of the cutting out problem, and advised that a mechanic reckoned that the EGR valve needed replacing.

After trawling through endless forums, I decided to replace the Camshaft Sensor (my car had the old black one, replaced it with new grey one from Motor Parts Direct). I then decided to blank the EGR valve - I was getting lots of black smoke from low revs - rather than replace it, I had it cleaned then blanked it.

Blanking the EGR has done wonders to the performance, plus I only get smoke on start up, and when near the red line in 3rd. So that's one problem sorted.

On the test drive after blanking the EGR, the car cut out again at 65mph in 5th gear. What am I missing that needs replacing and checking?

As for the glow plugs, one of them is currently snapped, so they haven't been changed in a while. It's difficult to start the car, but drives fine once you've revved enough to get all the pistons going.

Is the car dying on me an injector issue?

Is the crank sensor ok? Have heard these can causing intermittent cutting out.

Well ladi think the cutting out problem turned out to be the crank position sensor we took it out and cleaned It and it hasn't conked since I will replace it down the line but , at the moment I owe the mechanic for a new flywheel and clutch kit !!! I love the Mondeo but when they start acting up they are a total nightmare, best of luck I think the sensor is on the gearbox

Is there a difference between the crank sensor and the camshaft sensor? Saw other posts which implied that they were just different names for the same thing. I've done the cam shaft sensor on mine, and fixed the smokey lack of performance problem with the blanked EGR... but it still cuts out?

It needs both crank and cam sensors as it needs to phase the injectors , the crank is to tell ecu where abouts the crank is in its rotation , but it only knows that no 1 or 4 is at TDC , not which one is on the compression/power tdc or the exhaust/inlet tdc , hence if you know where the cam is it can then identify engine firing position .
