Suspension and wheels for xr3i 86 ??
Hi from new member. I have just purchased a 86 mk3 xr3i, but i would like to get some rs turbo wheels for it. I noticed they come in 14 and 15 in. Will the 15s bolt straight on ?
Also my suspension needs changing. it was built for track use, and not only is it rock hard, anything over 60mph the car skips after hitting every little bump and gets pretty scary. So i need an alternative. Would hte rs turbo series 1 set up bolt straight on ? and what would the ride be like. bearing in mind it has a 1.6 vulcan built stage 2 engine and will only be used mainly on road.
Sorry for all the questions on my first post. rgds

All rst escort wheels were 15", on series 1 and series 2.
The series 1 rst used tie bars on the front, so was a good set up handling wise, you could fit either this or the xr3/i stuff, the SACHS std fit stuff for the rst series 2 was particularly good imo as an everyday driver car.

thx Tabetha. Got abit of an update i need advice on. A friend of mine is breaking a series 2 rs, and he has both front and rear suspension still available with brakes. If i grabbed the front and rear suspesion and front brakes is this just a straight swap ?

afaik it is yes, from(bad) memory it was just the very early mk3 escorts that had a different front strut fixing, and the ties bars used on the series 1 rst, not used on the series2 rst so should all fit no bother.
series2 will have larger 260mm front brakes instead of 240mm on the series1 also.
