Quick Zetec Conversion Question - Inlet
What Inlets are good to use for fitting a n/a 1.8 zetec into Mk4 Escort?
I've got a 1.8/2.0L plastic (mondeo) inlet and a 1.8 plastic (escort) inlet, and both look a bit 'low' like they're going to foul the brake bar at the back of the engine bay. Do they foul the brake bar or bulkhead if you use these manifolds?
Is the 1.6 Fiesta Si Alloy Inlet any good for a 1.8? As I can get one cheap as chips, but dont know if it's up to the job.
Any info much appreciated.

Pretty sure the Mondeo inlet fouls the brake bar. Think the plastic Escort ones are fine though.
The 1.6 Fez one is the same as fitted to the 105PS 1.8 engines, so a bit small for the 2.0 really, so if you have the plastic one off the 1.8 Escort lump, use that.
I've had two 2.0 engines, one with the 115PS plastic inlet, and one with the 130PS HO alloy inlet from an RS1800 and I didn't notice the slightest bit of difference in performance, so the 115PS Escort one is fine in my eyes. Some people say the 130PS alloy one is the one to have, but I can't see it myself!

Only looked at the CVH to Zetec Guide and he mentions a focus manifold for Ł50. (CBA to spend Ł50 on a manifold... lol)
Will also get the tape measure out tomorrow and give it a bit of a measure to see if it's close....

Well, to my knowledge, the Focus and Mondeo manifolds both foul the brake bar, so logic would dictate that it's the Escort one that fits!
I'm sure his had a plastic manifold on though!
