Default Cossie Battery Voltage Woes

After finsding out that my alternator was dying last year i got it recoiled and after that the battery was dying and was not really giving its all and only showing 13.5 volts tops on my SECS ecu monitor.
Well i have bought another new battery and the voltage is the same but the car starts up very fast now which is ideal and all the time unlie the old battery which was slowly dying due to the knackered alternator.
The guys in my RS group said they see no lower than 14 ish volts on there cars SECS monitors and thats with everything on light heaters etc etc. they also said it could be the earths from the engine or the gearbox or another earth causing this. i have checked them and they seem ok to me.
Anyway so far i have fitted this negative terminal connector adaptor as its a bit hard finding flat connector batterys.
.
i have also fitted a 4to1 power distributer on the positive side which i didnt get a photo of as its chucky it down here in Sunny Devon.
Anyway guys any ideas as to what could be the prob.
cheeRS in advance.

It's very simple, if they are seeing 14+ volts with everything on the secs is misreading, the alternator won't give out more than it's set to in the regulator(at time of manufacture).
A really good reading with everything on and the engine idling would be 13.4, and that would be really good, more likely to be 12.8- 13.0.
You could try another wire between the alternator terminal and the battery +, as this will have built up much resistance over the years.

i have already run a new wire from the alternator to the battery. maybe i should look at the ecu wiring then or something to see if it telling the secs monitor porky pies?

I thought mine was low (So much so i created a thread on here a few weeks back) as I get around 13.4x, max and with a heavy load it can drop to around 12.8V at idle (As Said). If your worried about the alt to batt cable simply measure the voltage at the alt directly, when I did this the reading I got was as near as makes no difference identical to the reading at batt, alternativly run a jump lead between it and the battery as a test, so mine was fine.

The engine earth strap is the only earth that would effect it but then you would have problems starting, running etc.

As said with everything on you will never get that reading,(Although perfectly possible on modern setups) plus SECS is reading the input at ECU which of course isn't going to be higher than the batt anyway.

maybe there is some resistance in the wire to the ecu from the battery. oh well better get it looked at next week when i am off. richie is helping me re wire my fuel pump for safe measureso we'll do it then. chhers guys.
