Default focus mk1 double din dvd

i want to install a double din touch screen dvd player in my focus, i wnt the factory look with shaved edges ect but to do this i think i have to trim the dash and remove the 4 mounting screws on the dash cover. will the mounting clips (no screws behind radio) hold under driving pressures. any one done this before

not too sure on size, but I would make a replica rectangle frame of the d/din then another around that, place it ocer the existing stereo slot, mark where it is to go then use a d/grinder or dremel to trim away the edges to the frame fits in place. Once in place glass it in securely from the back using tape or moulding plastecine to stop the resin from falling through the front. Once done remove the tape/plastecine and fill with glass from the front, once its gone off sand the profile smooth. If needed glass some flanges in place for the stereo carcase to hold it in place but still make it removable.

Hope this helps

i think i did it a easy way i cut the bezel to cover the new double din as the standard ford radio is slightly smaller, then covered my screen with 5 layers of masking tape all way round. the rubbed wd40 over it so the filler will not stick to the tape. then smoothed the filler to the tape and leave to dry. remove the tape it should pull out easy (because of the oil) and look at the lines around the screen they should all be straight and level. then sand and re-fill where nessesary. my install was harder due to the hazard switch needed lifting and i installed a clock out a mondeo mk3. which needed the dash to be cut.
