Default Escort heater blower

Hi all,

Can someone please tell me where i can find the blower motor for the heater in a 1998 (v reg) 1.8 diesel Escort van and how to remove it?

Thanks

Pretty sure on these(age) they are behind the firewall bit, behind the engine, if you look through the slits in the wiper scuttle you should see it.
That being the case simply pull off the seal from the firewall where it rests against the closed bonnet, then there will be a plastic shield to pop off, careful they can be brittle, to expose underneath the motor, normally held on with just a 13mm nut each end, resistor sits on top of it.

Try Parts-4 Fords on ebay as they were the cheapest new option

Can I ask why? cos it might be something else like the fusebox which is a common problem.

of course check all the fuses first then use a circuit tester on the blower unit to see if any power is going to it, no power then i would say its a fuse or even the switch. you could always try running some 2 core flex from the battery direct to the blowers terminals bypassing the fuses etc.

Alls orted , Fan behind bulkhead.

I had checked all the wiring and there was no issues there. Once the fan was out i could investigate further and found that the thermal cut out had roten and coroded away stopping the flow of electricity at this point just above te carbon brush.

By passing was the only way so i will have to keepmy nostrils alert in future!!!!!

Anyhow i am nice and warm again now.

Next job Rear engine mount that has sheared. Hope thats a simple job!!!

The rear mounts are easy to do with a bit of a struggle not bad at all, launching is what usually kills these!!
