Default mk4 Fiesta wont start!!!

Hi folks,

Posted on a few forums as i'm getting a bit desperate.

In a bit of a pickle. The Fiesta wont start. Turn the key and she does not fire up. Can hear fuel pump (?) whurring away from a second and some clicking from up front but no start.

It has started internittantly, like once every 50 tries :blub:

Tried to bump start it, put in gear and pushed it, starter seems to turn but no fire. So suggests starters fine?

Its a 1.25

Any help greatly appreciated!!!!!

Graham

Yeah mate it should start off a bump if it was the starter motor, I had a problem and it ended up being my ignition switch but yet again it started off a bump also.
I am sure someone will be along soon to help you out mate

Yes there is nothing wrong with the starter motor, the fuel pump is priming which is good so the next thing you need to be doing is checking for a spark, let me know if you don't know how to do this. If it's not starting when turned over by the starter motor then it's not going to when PUSH starting either.

Checked ignition barrel. Took apart, all seems to be working ok.

Checked for spark, couldnt figure out how to get at plugs but took off the plastic HT lead/plug 'thing' and checked with a multimeter, getting a very small reading.

Solenoid on starter is getting power, yet makes no noise at all when trying to start the car.

So was thinking starter is next port of call unless theres anything else to check.

Are zetec starter interchangable or is the 1.25 starter unique?
