Default rs turbo sidelights staying on when switched off

hi my rs turbo sidelights & speedo illumination lights are staying on all the time even when switched off ive tried changing the light stalk still same tho any ideas could it be a bad earth maybe??

If the lights are off then I should think it's getting the power from elsewhere, pull the fuses one by one, that should turn them off then you can isolate the problem.

Disconnect the rear lights as well, if they pick up a feed into the brake light circuit they will backfeed. Usual culprit for that is putting a single filament bulb into a double-filament socket, although the light units themselves can cause wonderful things of their own when they corrode or lose an earth circuit.

If not, and you have changed the light switch but not added anything extra to the car electrical system recently, I would suggest checking the fusebox for any deterioration.

tried the bulbs and still same took the bulb holders off front and rear lights clocks are still illuminated with those disconnected asewll?
any more ideas to try

Disconnect the light switch itself and see if it is still on.

If it is, then the fusebox is most likely shot.

Pull the fuses one by one and see what one makes the lights extinguish.
