Unhappy sapphire 4x4 brake problem

Hi all you ford nutters

got a brake problem i was hopeing some one can help me with.

after about 5 feet or so the brake peddle goes solid. after a few presses the peddle starts to move but very juddery and the brakes are the same.

if i pump the brake on start of car then give it a little speed it seems ok.
only dose it at the start of a drive. works fine after.

the abs light starts as normal but if it dose not come on i know the brakes are gona be a pain as my abs light has been on for about 2 years lol.

just replaced the master cylinder/distribution block.

still doing it.
only thing i can think of is brake callipers or the sensors.

iv replace a rusted up sensor and cleaned the rest.

any ideas are welcome as with the snow getting a pain now.

Bollocks, I'm afraid mine doesn't, and every one of my friends doesn't, the light for the abs has a specific test criteria laid down by ford with regard to light function, your tester is BREAKING THE LAW and needs to have his license removed.
The test is VERY clear a illuminated ABS light after starting is a FAIL it's that simple, bit like your tester.
If you care to tell me who it is I'll gladly report him for you, but I fully suspect you know this anyway.

Have you cleaned up the ABS rings on the hubs, even if the sensors are working they won't function properly if the teeth are full of dirt/grease. Best way I found was to remove the sensor get a long sharp flatheaded screwdriver and plenty of brake cleaner to clean out the teeth on the ABS pickup rings.

Try putting more brake fluid in it so it is ABOVE the max line, mine used to do this when it was dead on the max line, overfilled it abit and it goes out and starts working properly.

+1 neither does mine, for the light to illuminate it indicates a problem and it should NOT have passed an MOT. Have you checked/cleaned your wheel sensors?
