Default 2004 focus tdci sport starting issues

Hi to all I've got a problem with my focus tdci when starting from cold
The fault has been hapening since the colder weather has set in.

First thing in the morning it attempts to start but cuts straight out. It usually does start after 3-4 attempts tho but can run lumpy for 5-10 secs.
The odd occasion it's cut out completely while driving down the road after starting but only when stone cold and has fired straight up after

I've replaced the heater plugs and also changed the camshaft sensor as it was the old black style not the newer grey one.
I find if I give the car a little throttle it does start better but something obviously is not right. There is no fault codes showing up and no lights on the dash

Any help or advice would be gratefully appreciated
