On behalf of a mate....
My mates got a 3dr, & every so often the car will miss a beat (hic up) & the engine light will display on, it can do it up to 3 times in the day, then it will be fine for a few weeks.
The car is totally standard (28000) with only a K&N cone filter.
Any ideas folks

One of the sensors has a problem. Check the gaps on both phase and CPS.

 

Plug in a diagnotic tester (dont know where you get em but most tuners will be able to help you) this will tell you where the problem is and which sensor is down.
