Default XR2 carb - 32 DMTR v 32DFT

Hi all. Just wondering which is the best out of the 2 carbs - 32 DMTR v 32DFT for max performance. not too worried about the fuel economy etc. its for a track car.

Cheers

I've always thought the DFT to be the better of the Weber twinchokes. Mechanical second choke. I'm not sure what the DMTR is? Is it the round top one? I've always known the round top as a TLDM. Whatever you use, invest the money in an overhaul kit. Weepy gaskets and hard, 25 year old perished diaphragms are a good way to lose power and waste petrol.

DMTR's are vac secondary's , the DFT is mechanical so for track use use the DFT, just make sure the DFT is the larger size, there is a smaller one fitted to the 78-82 fiesta 1300, with 22/22mm choke sizes, the mk1 xr2, the escort mk3 xr3 used the larger 24/25mm chokes.
The DMTR is inferior in pure bhp terms, it is a economy carb for good emissions, the DFT is a very good carb.
