Does anyone know the correct timing for a 1.6 CVH at around 5000 rpm?

Haynes gives 12 deg for 800 rpm but I also wanted to check it higher up the range.

i've been told 32-34 deg. I also read i think that over about 3000 rpm it stays pretty constant, is this right?

Any advice appreciated (destroyed 3 pistons already due to incorrect timing!!)

 

I take it your on about NA ignition timing? And at what AFR and engine tune? compression ratio etc, all these things will come into effect.

 

Fair point. the engine can be considered standard. AFR around 0.9 (slightly rich hopefully!)

 

.9 lambda? what does that equate to in Air fuel ratio? i would of said 30 ish degrees btdc is not far wrong, i take it you can hear no audiable pinking?

 

No i couldn't hear anything in the past. 0.9 is about 13.3 afr. sounds like low 30s is about right

 

i see, every engine is different mate, depends on the base ignition, and how the flywheel was cast/machined for the trigger
