2wd cosworth clutch arm spring / pivot
Hi, I'm trying to get hold of the pivot and clip that the end of the clutch release arm fits into on my sapphire 2wd cosworth. Does anyone know where I might get one as ford list the part but it's not available anymore
Wondered if anyone might have one on an old box or anything I could buy off you?
Thanx, ed

I noticed that when I took my box off for recon that my arm wasn't even connected to anything!!
There's just a silly little thin bit of springy metal strip that seems to go through a hole in a buffer pad on the arm end but doesn't hold it on or anything.
I'm just going to fit a stud after tapping the square step that the arm rests on, and drill a hole through the stud so I can fit a split pin over a spring and washer to hold the arm secure so it doesn't rattle.
Incidentally does your arm have a part number beginning with 71 ie for 1971 ?, if so then presumably any pinto bell housing will have the same fixing part for the end of the arm ?

thanx for the reply tabetha, its the actual bit the clutch arm slots into i need, is this the buffer pad? at the moment the arms kindof free to float around inside the bell housing lol. i never thought about it being the same as a pinto tho thanx, good idea, might be easier to find one of them than a cozzy box

I had a look today, the pinto is totally different, and better!!
Pinto has a sprung clip on the end of the arm that goes over a ball stud.
I think looking at the original pad that is on the end of the arm that it has tang on the rear of the pad that fits in the small hole on the square platform that it uses as a pivot point, I'm just going to drill a 6mm hole and tap it in the square section then pad on arm on then spring and washer finally nut to hold together, will work perfect.
They don't float around much as there is always a slight tension on the arm to push it against the pad by the clutch cable etc on the other end, release bearing ensures it can't move too far as well.

Mine had started eating it's way out of the bell housing, got some fair old grooves there, was the mystery rattle when slowing down that I could never find!!
Just goes to show great minds think alike!!
