Cracked rotor arm

What can cause a cracked rotor arm, its cracked on top between the 2 connections.
Car runs ok from cold and when becoming warm hot it runs on 2-3 cylinders now and then

Car's a 4x4 Sierra Cosworth

Usually just age, or impact damage from being forced on ?

Must be age then.
Is it possible that the car has these symptoms with a cracked rotor arm???

Yes if the crack is over the area between centre and the outer edge contact, as this covers a carbon resistor.

if it hasnt been changed for a long time, the plastic has probably become brittle

Turned out to be the phase sensor as cylinder 1 & 4 were not going properly, changed and all fine

As the rotor arm looked bad i also changed rotor and cap
