Loud banging when launching 4x4 3dr HELP!!
I've had my 4x4 3dr for quiet a few years now. And it has been mechancially sound all that time .
Now I'm getting a major problem from the front.
It sounds like axle tramp like on a front wheel drive car but even more fierce.
It only happens under hard acceleration and launching.
Sounds like the driveshaft is banging away on something.
I instantley thought it was cv joints because there was grease leaking out. So I changed the whole front passenger side hub and driveshaft for a low milege one off my mate.
And still the same noise
then I thought it maybe the front diff giving up with play in it or munched gears. So last nite jacked it up and whipped the plate of the bottom. To be honest oil was a bit low but all the gears and teeth were fine and there was no play.
So I still have this horrible noise
just to let you know it's pollybushed all round, Collins engine and gearbox mounts, Konis, and it's not exhaust whacking the prop lol
If anyone has any ideas please help me
Cheers

exactly as said above, front prop knunkles and or positioning of the prop between the chassis and exhaust, also check the engine mounts as they could be gone and allowing the engine to move to much causing the above..

this happened to me this year on my race car whilst on track, went with a hell of a bang!!
new solid mounts and new shaft sorted it.

I've already got new Collins mounts. I checked them yesterday incase they were loose but there ok.
I changed the front prop before cos it was clicking and when I took it off the uj was acctually partial ceased, and grinding you couldn't move it freely with your hand.
This one is ok I checked it when I had my gearbox out about 3 months ago to put a new clutch in.

not sure about 3drs, but 2wd saphs have differant front chassis legs to the 4x4,
on the 4x4 the legs have a little arch to clear the shafts on full suspension travel,
the 2wd shells dont have this(i've heard some do but not all),
i've had probs with 2wd shells i've converted to 4x4,
could poss be this, worth checking for any signs of runbing above the front shafts
