1999 focus cl
Hi everyone, just joined and hope someone can help, I've just bought a 1999 focus cl 1.4, it is high revving at tickover, about 1,200 revs and then jumps up to about 3,000 at anytime regardless of clutch being used or just at 30 mph, also can only open drivers door with key, is there a way to open all doors with key? thanks in appreciation of answers
cl is the base model so prob doesnt have central locking...though i'm not 100% sure.
high idle is probably most likely caused by the idle speed control valve. think their piss easy to get at on the 1.4 and 1.6 as they'de on the front of the inlet manifold. may help just leaning it out but may have to fit a new one, its a good point to start at anyway.

CL's don't have remote locking, but do have central locking. There might be a fault with one of the rear latches (Very common) try unplugging those one at a time and retrying.
Revs hanging up could be idle speed control valve, or a split vac pipe under the inlet which is again very common.

Hi and welcome,
All Focus have Central locking, but CL as said doesn't have remote, however in this case it sounds as if your central locking is not working if it's just opening the drivers door and nothing else, so I would be checking fuse number 63 (20A) in the passenger fuse box (Behind glovebox)
The high idling I would say is caused by the vacuum pipe as said, if it is this it will be letting in the extra air which is leading to the higher idle (air leak) I don't think there is anything wrong with the ISCV.
