Default Newbie needs help with power steering

Hello everyone

I'm new to the boards - but not Fords!

I have a fiesta Mk3 ('95) Frascati with power steering, and recently the steering rack failed the MoT for leaking......well I bit the bullet and decided to change it rather than bodge with leak stopper etc - trouble is, when I come to refit the new rack, I can't get the return line out of the rack to fit and seal properly - the gland nut does up tight, but the hose going on on to the back stays loose - which I can see is going to leak fluid when I turn the engine on!

Question to anyone out there that knows, is there any type of seal which needs to go onto the rack before putting the line on????? I didnt see any come out of the old one - but I guess it could have got chewed up during removal?

Usually have seals on the lines on the rack, being loose when tightened would suggest also this is the case, there's most likely a slight recess where a o ring seal goes over the pipe part and sits in the rack threaded area.

Thanks tabetha - I got on the phone to ford parts at Stafford who said there is a teflon ring, I'm going to pick them up tomorrow - I just hope it does the job because the drive way is getting a nice puddle of fluid on it right now!!!
