Unhappy Rev counter

Hello everyone. Have a 98 escort 1.4 without rev counter. Bought a set of dials with rev counter and was told to wire it from pin 8 on blue plug to pin 4 on ecu. Done this but nothing. Am i doing it right for a 1.4? Any help gratefully received. Thanks.

I may be worng here but if you run a wire from the rev clock to the nagtive on the coil it should work. Its old school.

Not certain but would have thought that a 98 escort would be plug and play, as in same loom used on both tacho and non tacho ones ?

You need to identify the three wires going to the tacho on the rear of the clock set , these will be a live(ignition) a earth and a coil negative, from this you should be able to determine which wire is which and wire it.
