Lowering an escort GTi

Hi guys i have recently bought an escort gti and im thinking of lowering it. I have been told that lowering can cause problems with the abs on fords though. Is this true?

i dropped my GTi 40mm had it like it for over a year before i sold it and never had any probs with the ABS. bloody harsh ride but no real problems.
