Hi guys,

I am using a 205 block for my 4x4 Mk1 Cortina and have fitted a 4x4 oil cooler and filter adaptor. The trouble is big 27mm securing bolt wont tighten to the adaptor bolt.

When I tighten the adpator bolt to the block it seems ok.....I then slide the oil filter assembly against the oil cooler and finger tighten the 27mm bolt to secure. When I then tighten with a spanner the adaptor bolt that is screwed into block slackens and the whole assembly comes away from the block!!

Any help?

I am assuming I am using the correct adaptor bolt. See pic below of small 2wd and larger 4x4 adaptor bolts.

Unless I'm reading it wrong it sounds as though the thread is buggered inside the adaptor bit that goes on the stub on the engine, and is pulling past the threads when the filter is tightened against the cooler ?

Had a quick look and threads look reasonable but will replace to make sure.
