Default mk2 escort pinto what gearbox?

i have just purchased a t plate mk2 escort 1.3 popular plus, i have a pinto lying around i want to bung in it, what gearbox will fit without modifying the tunnel?

not quite that easy fella unless its automatic [they have big tunnel already] the gearstick hole is in the wrong place and the tunnel is not wide enough if u cut the stick hole as a oval u can refit it the other way round big hammer in the tunnel jobs a good un sierra 5 speed is the best fuel pipes on the wrong side alternator wiring on the wrong side best of luck

You can now buy lowering blocks for the mouuning of the gearbox so the it will fit in the tunnel, i think!

The t5 g/box is to big for what you want tbh and the tunnel will need do be modified.
Stick with the type9 is you best option, as above you can buy the lowering blocks for the g/box mount. cut the top for the g/stick and flip it round.

Type 9 ( 5 speed ) or if you want a 4 speed 'Type E' ( Rocket ) there are some good gear kits with good ratios out there to suit
