I've got A mark 4 escort cabriolet trying to find out why the roof don't work any ideas when I press the switch button there is a clicking noise coming from the boot I've also noticed that the oil for the hydraulic pump is below minimum could this be the only cause as there isn't even the slightest of movement

 

There is also a couple of relays behind the light cover. Take them out and make sure there clean

 

Ok will give that a go tomorrow would it still work with oil below minimum or not

 

What oil would I need to buy to top up cheers for help advice

common for pumps to pack up ,you may find oil under your carpet

 

ill have a look over the weekend all i know is that the oil resvoir is below the minimum and when i touch the switch there is a clicking sound coming from the back of the car other then that nothing is there any way of testing the pump and what oil do i use if i do get it working

 

im sure its just hydraulic oil same as if u were to fill a jack/engine hoist up.
