1996 Escort 1.8 to 2.0 engine conversion EEC-V
Hi I have a 1.8 mk6 escort which currently has about 270,000 miles on it, it dosnt run that well, one of the rocker cover bolts have snapped, it cant idle, none of the sensors work, the MAF is finished fan never works, temp gauge and ecu temp sensor are duff etc.. basically its an accident waiting for a place to happen
I am thinking about a conversion to a silvertop 2.0
I know this is supposed to be a good engine for the escort with approx 136bhp
My question is ecu related.. would the engine run with my 1.8 EEC-V ecu?
i seem to be hearing conflicting stories..
from the bits and pieces i have gathered i am under the impression that the car would run 'good' with the 1.8 eec-v ecu... all my original keys would work.. i wouldnt lose my immobiliser etc. also being EEC-V it could be remapped to work better with the 2.0 engine
The EEC-IV Ecu would need different wiring, i'd also lose my immobiliser (limited) obdII functionality etc..
can anyone confirm or advise?
Many Thanks
Alan
p.s. wheres a good place to sorce a 2.0 silvertop
p.p.s seeing as i already have an eec-v ecu and wiring in place, could i run a blacktop engine?
p.p.p.s if needed is there ways to bypass the immobiliser with relays to fuel pumps etc?

i dont it in a focus but it on runs on a 1.8 map, so its a 2.0 but runs and drives like a 1.8
the way i got around it was i cloned a 2.0 pcm and put it into a 1.8 pcm
