XR2 Fuel tank advice
It's not so much help I need but just a little advice. Last summer I bought my first ford after owning a mini since I was 16. A MK2 XR2 with a bunch of stuff done. Well I say 'A' MK2 xr2 but I really mean I bought a rusty peice of shit mk2 with next to no floor but pretty reasonable parts and a xr2 shell which had been fully seam welded. so ever since i've slowly been re-shelling it bit by bit. Now i've pretty much finished and the car has been painted and the engine is swapped over and running. I'm about to have the car wrapped and I just need to know if i'll be ok to use an alloy tank in the boot so I can block up the fuel tank filler hole before I have the car wrapped.
I have a 6 gallon alloy fuel tank with 1 outlet and 2 pipes on top. 1 for the return fuel pipe and 1 for a breather. My cars on twin 40's so there's no need for a return fuel pipe. so will I be ok to T the two top pipes into one and fit a roll over valve/breather. I used to run a tank like that in the boot of my mini without the roll over valve. But obviously the mini has a firewall (of sorts) between the boot and the passenger compartment. so is it road legal to have the tank in the boot without the firewall? will the car go through a MOT like that?.
cheers Gav.
