My pinto setup! Comments?
Block:
0.5 overdim pistons Mahle
0.5 machined off the block
All balanced and rods/flywheel lightened
ARP in rods, crankshaft and to the head
Head:
Mild portet the rough surface in the ports
standar valves with bronze guides and machined race angle
1.0mm taking off the head
Bronze cam bearings
It will be fr31 or fr32 from kent cam, what do you recommend?
45dcoes
Ignition:
Bestek fast road kit
This is mye first build engine. Any comments, critic? Nm and hk?
I am from Ford Club Norway, sorry my english.

It sounds ok, but you could have gone +90 thou on the pistons using V6 cologne pistons, makes it around 2086cc then.
I've not used those cams, but you will need either a nicely modded distributor, ie a bosch one that has had the advance retard curve altered to suit the carbs, or a ignition ecu that is mappable to get the best, don't even think about keeping it on std advance retard curve.
As a rough rule you will need sheds loads more initial advance, but less overall, you can do this by trial and error, do the low down stuff by adjusting a little at a time and trying the car, then when happy with low down power, start doing the top end power, ther eis a little "cap" in the side of the std bosch distributor, into this hole you can insert a screwdriver and bend the weight stops a bit at a time to limit the advance it gets from centrigual advance/weights, you would be best probably not using the vacuum advance, just weld the arm so it doesn't move.

Okay, I will do that to my next engine. Bore it up to 2.1
This that I am building now, I want it to be safe but also fun.
I am using Bestek fast road kit with new distributor, coil etc
thank you for the info. It is all new to me. I have so much to learn

You will still need to play/modify the distributor as described if it's just a std repalcement part, the difference is like night and day running/power wise with incorrect and correct power curve, I used to do my own as described on my pinto and x flow, always worked perfect, could easily add 10bhp+, with vastly better running and much better mpg L/km.

Best I picked up was 18bhp@wheels, on a 1760 x flow, the muppets that "set it up" just put the timing to std at idle then didn't touch it after that, and said it doesn't matter that much, after I did my way I went back and told them put back on the same rollers and it showed the increase.
These guys are still in business, and said it wasn't modded enough to need a different curve, I only had big valve fully ported head, high CR pistons, twin 40's, and fast road cam.
