Default cossie cutting out!!!

My mates 4x4 cossie has started cutting out.
He can drive ok til it gets to about 3500rpm then will cut out, it wont start unless he leaves it for about 20 seconds.

It started after he changed the starter motor, he has checked the earth strap is on ok.

Any ideas guys???

John.

Theres a possibility that the ignition amplifier is overheating here.
