Question Cant crank over engine manually after rebuill

hello to every one.

Ive just put my cylinder head back on after taking it off to replace the head gasket and got the head skimmed at the same time (138.50). i wanted to find out how much clearence ive got between my valves and pistons but when it came to cranking it over manully the enigine wouldnt move it was solid. what could be the cause of this and what other ways are there to check the clearence between the valves and pistons.

no it doenst turn over by hand at all. The engine is all timed up correctly. it turns over easy when the head is off.

if it's timed up correctly then it can only be 1 or 2 things the valves are hitting the pistons or the cams caps are too tight/seized!

Cossie???

Turns over by hand with the head off because of no compression. Check your timing again.

All well and good checking timing but as he says he's trying to check valve/piston clearance. Have you had too much taken off the head?

Also have you tried to turn it over without the plugs in?

On the std pulleys the 2 pointers should point directly at each other.

All so pull all the plugs out as this will help you turn the motor over . But Dont hit the key till the motor turns over by hand at least 2 or 3 times
