Cant crank over engine manually after rebuill
hello to every one.
Ive just put my cylinder head back on after taking it off to replace the head gasket and got the head skimmed at the same time (138.50). i wanted to find out how much clearence ive got between my valves and pistons but when it came to cranking it over manully the enigine wouldnt move it was solid. what could be the cause of this and what other ways are there to check the clearence between the valves and pistons.

All well and good checking timing but as he says he's trying to check valve/piston clearance. Have you had too much taken off the head?
Also have you tried to turn it over without the plugs in?

yes it is a cossie engine, 2wd sapphire.
all the timing is correct and all the cam caps are in the correct place and tightened correctly. the head thickness is 138.50 but i got told thats ok.
