why would you go from a duratec to a cvh in a heavy mk2 focus with no power or torque advantages?

would need new mounts, management, gearbox...the list goes on.

sorry guys its a mk1

its only a 1.6 zetec and i have a full built turbo lump ready to go into a combi but the combi still needs welding

so i was asking would the 16.cvh be able to go in place of the zetec

tbh i would have thought 200+ would be fine lol

would go down the full zetec route but straped for cash atm so just trying to use what iv got

thanks

It would be fairly involved you would have to do some grafting to fit the CVH I would imagine as it would be totally different to the Zetec. Then there is the engine which will be as hard if not harder and this is assuming the engine is converted to EFI as well?

would need custom inlet, exhaust, coolant system, mounts clutch, engine loom, ecu...and thats just to start. better off turboing the 1.6 zetec se.

rather than waste money and time trying to do this to the heavy focus just weld up the combi and drop the lump in there where it should go.

well the cvh is running efi with megasquirt so i thought bang a 255 pump in the tank thats that bit solved ...

inlet and exhaust i can make no problem and mount should be pretty straight forward too

what about shafts etc could i use the s2 box?

just thought about doing it on the cheap !!

i built a 2l zetec turbo in my mk5 esc and that solwley pushed into about £1500 and that was kinda budget build lol

if i do that again im up for a devorce lol

just trying to do a budget build with the stuff i have or spend a couple of hundred getting it going

the spec of the engine is efi conversion using frst inlet etc 440cc injectors turbo tec stg3 turbo piper 285 cam running on megasquirt evo1 fmic

i thought it would still be quite a poley engine even in a focus ???

any other issues..... can i use the turbo box shafts?

imho its not worth spending loads on modding the focus to accept the cvh engine when a fraction of that money can be spent welding the combi up and dropping the cvh in there.

pluss it aint gonna be a weekend job to convert the focus so if you rely on the focus i wouldnt bother. as said all the water pipes, inlet, zorst, pas pump, a/c?? etc is different. not sure what you would do engine mount wise either as the focus drivers side mount is next to the cam belt on the inner wing and chassis leg.

i know its possible to do in a mk6 escort fairly easily but the focus was designed around the newer zetec e and se range of engines.

admitidely it would be something different but as zetecs are cheap, easily modable and drop straight in with more power outputs and better drivability you'd prob get laughed at by most.

iv seen it done before, and they used the power steering pump from an escort mk6 1.4 cvh cfi.

not sure how easy plumbing in all the mfi fuel system will be.. would be easier with a fiesta rst engine
