1997 mk 2 mondeo 2.0 ghia failed emissions
hi guys my mondeo failed its mot yesterday on emissions
with CO level to high it was 0.46 and limit is 0.30
before the mot i replaced the cat and lambda sensor
got it serviced etc
so i am unsure what to do now
the car seems to be sluggish since i changed cat etc
also i may be wrong but am certain there is
slight missfire throughout
the driving speed ?
could this be an airflow meter fault ?
can anyone help please ?
thanks kev

Was it a pattern cat ?, I would start by cleaning the maf, using carb cleaner clean the hot wires inside it, don't poke it with anything it's not needed, then pull fuse no2 a violet fuse marked KAM, this will reset the ecu to learning mode for best running/settings.
Then you need to give it a seriously good thrash, surprised the mot centre didn't tell you this, very very very common this is, esp with pattern cats that only just scrape through.
My dads just mot'd his mk1 2L ghia , and had to put it into 1st(auto) and do a mile with it hitting the limiter after failure, but easily went through on return, good job I built the engine right!!

how long does the fuse need to be out ?
thanks kev
Just pull the fuse for 1 minute, no need to disconnect the battery like people say, as the KAM, or Keep Alive Memory is the only circuit that needs to lose it's memory so it learns over again.
