HCS to Endura ?
Hi all ! First post so please be gentle...
I've got a 94' HCS engined fester thats on it's last legs, Another engine is the only way forward !
Trouble is, HCS engines are hard to find (no, really !) - but endura's are everywhere...
Is it possible to use the endura as a replacement ? I know the compression ratio is higher (9.5-1 instead of the 8.8-1 HCS), as far as i can see that should make little difference as i can't swap the heads (different shape pistons i believe).
I'm guessing the main sticking points would be the inlet manifold and cfi unit.
Any help would be most grateful !

yeah inlets cant be swopped over as the entire hcs inlet wont even cover the ports on an endura! have you considered a 1600 crossflow? this would be an easier swop and the engines are easier to find plus they are a cracking engine unlike the endura!

Trouble is i'll have to disagree, they're even harder to find !
To be honest this is just a nice clean daily runner (you can't mod a 5 door fester - it just isn't right !), it's just not worth spending that much on it.
My engine has basicly worn out the tappets (the ones on top of the camshaft) and the cam itself, it also has started to burn oil - so in an ideal world, all i need is a new bottom end. At £400+ for a recon, you can see why i'm trying all other possibilties first...
last time i looked for a replacement for a mate i ended up buying a whole rotten fiesta with a good engine for £100 off a trader and just swopped the engine over might be the easiest way
Thanks for your help, much appreciated !
