S1 Turbo - Big Misfire & Loud Tappet Noise
Hi,
Was driving the S1 on Friday & it wasn't running right from the minute I turned the key, ticking over at a much lower rpm than usual - dropping to about 500 before trying to stall.
Seemed fine when on the move so put my foot down and just as it started to pick up on boost it began misfiring, big bang through the exhaust and then instantly noisy tappets. Seemed to drive ok afterwards but still with misifre and loudest tappet noise I've ever heard, obviously parked it up as soon as possible and haven't started it since.
I'm guessing that something bad has happened to the cam but has anybody got any ideas/suggestions as to what might have happened before I start looking at it? It's not missed a beat for four years
Thanks.

It's been on a standard cam running 16psi with a stage 3 turbo technics blower. Was running and driving perfectly when I took it out a couple of weeks ago and also when I parked it up.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that your right with the cam assumption I'm more wondering if i've done something that's caused it to happen. Is there likely to be some underlying fault that could have caused something to fail or could it just be a case that the cam has worn and one of the lobes has decided it's had enough? Was just a really sudden change, not a gradual increase in noise over a while as something wears.
Has anyone experienced anything similar to this?
