Default Boost Control

My 2wd Sapphire currently has the actuator connected directly to the compressor housing. There is no amal or bleed valve in the current setup.

Am I right in saying its recommended to refit an amal valve to allow the ECU to have some control over boost pressure? Where can I buy one and how should it be connected?

Correct, at the moment you have no boost control at all, you can only run what the actuator will allow, put back the Amal and you have electronic boost control and will run higher boost to what the chip has been written for. Paul at NYRS could sort you out or the bay may have one.
