Default sierra gearbox to zetec engine

Does anybody know if a sierra gearbox is a straight fitting to a 2 litre zetec, or do you have to make modifications? If so, what are they?

Default sierra gearbox

you didn't say what seirra gearbox early four speed of later type9 five speed. in both cases i'm pretty sure that both fit. its the stud patten on the bel housing that you have to look at. and since ford have kept this the same on the zetec, cvh, pinto and early v6 you can useit on a zetec. the tricky part is the clucth set up you will have to use bits and pieces from both. kits are availbe from companys, such the people who install them in mk1 and 2 escorts, think there advertised in classic ford magazine. hope thats some help

yeah mate, what gearbox? remember that later sierras were fitted with the 1.8 motor that was basically a cvh, so that might be a good candidate for conversion.

principally a 4-cylinder box will fit, careful with V6 boxes as the bellhousings are different, and the input shafts generally a bit longer than 4-cyl ones..

My saph 2wd box fits my focus RS engine , dunno if the N/A clutch spline is any smaller tho , will check tomorrow ,

however the clutch release lever runs out of travel , gonna see if i can alter it , or i could fit a adjustable hydrolic one , last resort would be a shorter bell housing .
