right i ran it out of petrol today, and after putting fuel in it wont start, it doesnot seem to prime either, kind of makes a thud noise rather than a priming sound, ive pushed the white buttin in the spare wheel well, no joy! please help

 

Check fuses are ok then get to the fuel pump relay take it out and bridge 30 and 87 together, this should then run , this will tell if the pump is okay, they can be killed by debris from the tank when run low.
If this is the case reverse the current flow through the pump, it will blow all the shit back in the tank, but will work for a while, gives you time to take the tank out and clean it out.
I just use my jump starter pack with wires direct to the pump to reverse it and let it run for about 15 seconds, will do no harm at all, you willa ctually hear the crap getting spat back.
